- British law requires that a birth needs to be registered with the British authorities before a first-time passport application can be submitted IF the applicant’s parents were not married at any point and never had a British passport before.
- If the applicant’s parents were married at any point, before or after the applicant’s birth, then a first-time British passport application can be submitted without registering a birth.
