British consulate in South Africa | Some aspects of adulting are less fun than others, and a trip to the British Consulate to renew your passport while living in South Africa is surely one of them.
As of July 2021, it is believed there are over 212,000 British expats living in South Africa. This number is high for a reason, South Africa has so much to offer! So for the many British expats living in this beautiful country we have some great news…
We’re happy to share with you that the process of renewing your British passport is now EXCLUSIVELY online so the only trip you will need to take is one to your computer to complete the application online.
Being face-to-face with an official at the consulate offers the opportunity to ask questions and ensure that you are properly informed and understand the process and requirements. Although you can no longer enjoy that face-to-face counsel with an official, all hope is not lost in submitting a properly and correctly completed application.
U.K.ABROAD’s five-step process simplifies the application process now that you don’t need to visit the British Consulate in South Africa.
Since 2008 U.K.ABROAD’s professional and experienced team has assisted in accurately submitting over 100 000 passport applications from abroad.
Our expert teams’ daily liaison with Her Majesty’s Passport Office ensures that they are up-to-date with any amended or updated legislation relating to passport applications without any involvement from the British Consulate in South Africa.
This fills the gap of not having an official to bounce questions off of and properly understand the application process. As an independent organisation, we are not affiliated with the British Government, allowing for a tailor made solution to British Passport renewals from abroad. Here is how simple and efficient our service is.
1. Apply Online
It is as simple as visiting www.ukabroad.net and completing the application online.
The online application form is very user-friendly, and the fields are easily understandable and simple to complete.
This application should take no longer than a few minutes to complete. Make sure to have your original documents close by, so that any additional information that you do not know by heart is available for you to enter into the online form without having to get up and grab them mid-application.
2. Secure Payment
Make sure to have your debit or credit card close at hand for the processing of your payment. The fees vary per application type and you can check the correct pricing on our website by following this link.
The fee includes U.K.ABROAD’s service fee, as well as all government and shipping fees for the delivery of your new passport directly to your door. This is an all-inclusive price with no extra costs meaning that there can be no surprises after your initial payment is made. This offers much peace of mind and allows you to submit your application without the concern of later having to break the bank.
3. Application Checked
Our dedicated team of experts will assess your application carefully and thoroughly ensuring that every detail is entered correctly. It is at this point where we will require copies of original documentation to ensure that there are no errors.
You will also need to have passport photographs taken and made available digitally, to accompany your application. There are some very specific criteria to meet when it comes to what is deemed acceptable to Her Majesty’s Passport Office as your passport photograph. This can possibly be the most complicated part of your passport renewal application. We will make sure that you have fulfilled all of the many requirements before submitting your application to avoid any disappointment.
4. Application Sent
Once we have sifted through every little detail ensuring that every “t” is crossed and every “i” is dotted, and that your photograph is perfect according to Her Majesty’s Passport Office’s standard, we will hit the send button. After the application is submitted online, we will arrange to have your original passport and supporting documents collected from you by courier, and delivered to Her Majesty’s Passport Office in the UK.
The effort required on your part is minimal in comparison to taking that trip to the British Consulate in South Africa.
5. Receive your passport
YES! Although this isn’t a step you need to take, it is the grand finale of the simplest possible passport renewal process you could ever have imagined. Your passport can take between three and four weeks to arrive in South Africa and it will be delivered to your door, into your hands, by courier service.
We are well experienced in making sure that each application is completed accurately and that our service remains a simple and effective one that is user-friendly and that every customer enjoys a service incomparable to any other in South Africa.
